News

No news is good news.

You reckon, it seems to me that the Aviemore area has been sucked into the can't be arsed dimension!

While the rest of the highlands/Scotland/UK progress forward with trail networks here and manmade centres there, what does Aviemore have? A NEW GOLF COURSE, why thank you.

I reckon that there are 50+ pretty serious  mountain bike riders in the immediate area and of course there is two not one but two really good LBS's (that's Local bike shops) in Aviemore.

Bearing this in mind what do we have in the way of way marked mountain bike trails?
Not a lot, I'm sure there are people out there who say "We don't need manmade trails there is plenty of superb natural singletrack" and I agree we are blessed with beautiful trails BUT, most of them aren't way marked, there are certain times of the year you need to stay off them e.g. Stalking, to wet and various animals or plants are growing, nesting, laying or being laid. All this means that superb natural singletrack is out of bounds to the responsible biker .

Because they aren't way marked using the recognized trail grading system people coming to the area and wanting to seek out some riding, whether there a serious biker or just fancy a jaunt through this beautiful National park find it hard to know where's suitable, appropriate, and not scaring away the animal of the month.

With everyone talking about being healthy, eating healthy and encouraging our children to be healthy we are not doing much to promote that way of thinking in our area. Biking surly is a great way to stay healthy not to mention the social benefits and exploring and discovering wild places.

What am I saying well nothing really but if your reading this and feel the same maybe get in touch and lets see if we can do something.

                                                             Many thanks Andy
